Mission Statement:

The purposes of Adult Religious Education (ARE) at King's Chapel are to deepen our religious understanding and spiritual development, to cultivate and develop friendships, and to support and pass on the traditions of the Society of King’s Chapel.

ARE offerings at King's Chapel include one-time events held either on a weeknight or after church on Sunday, multi-session courses that span a number of weeks, and retreats. Most classes are held at the Parish House at 64 Beacon Street. Participants are requested to call or email the Parish House to sign up in advance as class sizes are often limited.

Typical Programs

Morning Bible Study - Bible Workbench: An 8-week series in the Minister’s Office. We will use the extensive background materials from the Bible Workbench series which are available in the Parish office for $20 per copy. Newcomers especially welcome. Contact either of the ministers for further information.

Salons: King’s Chapel Salons have been a great way for parishioners to get together and share their talents.

Shakespeare Nights: Trouble deaf Heaven with your bootless cries. Reading Shakespeare is a lot of fun, and we do it for the love of language and to practice our King’s English. We will read one of Shakespeare’s plays this year, either this winter or spring. Please vote for the play you would most like to read.

Movie Nights: Calling all audio-visual wanna-bees! We’d love to continue our monthly movie night (typically held on the last Friday of the month) but can only continue it if people volunteer to act as the set-up crew.

Fellowship Opportunities & Annual Events

Annual Retreat to Glastonbury Abbey: Each January, a group of parishioners spends two nights at Glastonbury Abbey, a Benedictine monastery in Hingham, MA. Participants will have time to enjoy the guest house, to join the monks in the liturgies of the hours, and to participate in a program planned for the occasion.
