Purpose: To maintain the condition of King’s Chapel, the Parish House, and the Parsonage
Hours: 20 -30 hours per week
Reports to: Director of Finance & Administration
Works with: Director of Finance & Administration, other staff, Building & Grounds committee
Duties:
Facilities Maintenance
1. Coordinate the maintenance of the church’s buildings, grounds, and property, including scheduling and providing access to technicians and tradesmen (heating /cooling, fire and alarm systems, elevator, refuse & recycling services, landscaping) engaged to perform work on the property.
2. Follow a schedule of weekly, monthly and annual preventative maintenance of all major building systems and equipment including heating, cooling, fire and safety.
3. Perform minor repairs if capable, otherwise update Buildings and Grounds on status of needed repairs and maintenance. 4. In an emergency requiring immediate attention, call the pre-approved vendor or repair company, and advise Buildings and Grounds.
5. Maintain a record of repair and servicing on all buildings.
Facilities Use and Security
1. Set up and take down chairs, tables and audio visual equipment for meetings and special events at the Parish House.
2. Perform regular walk-through of Church and Parish House to note interior or exterior deterioration, or fire or safety hazards. Make appropriate recommendations to Buildings and Grounds.
3. Confirm overall security of the Church and Parish House, including being the first contact for security service in case of emergency.
Facilities Cleaning
1. Interior custodial work at Parish House and Chapel including dusting, vacuuming, washing floors, polishing hardware and fixtures, washing windows and painted surfaces, emptying waste baskets and moving bins for trash pickup.
2. Outdoor maintenance including sweeping and trash pickup, mowing, weeding, brick and stone repair, snow removal.
3. Maintain supply inventory and alert Parish Administrator of supply needs.
Other work as needed
Knowledge and skills required: ● Experience with maintenance processes and systems in older buildings ● Training and/or experience in facility safety ● Ability to plan and coordinate with staff, vendors and volunteers ● Flexibility and willingness to do what is necessary to maintain property ● Ability to lift and move up to 50 #, be able to climp tall ladders, must be able to work with chemicals
Compensation 30 hours per week, ideally starting in early morning, hourly rate of $30/hour
